The Career Transition Partnership (CTP) is the official UK Armed Forces resettlement service, delivered through a partnership between the Ministry of Defence and Reed in Partnership.
It provides personalised support, training, and employment guidance to Service leavers, helping them move successfully into civilian careers, further education, or retirement. CTP connects individuals with employers, accredited training providers, and a wide range of resettlement resources, supporting over 320,000 Service leavers to date.
The CTP-supported courses include GWO Basic Safety Training and GWO Basic Technical Training courses.
Who is eligible?
CTP support is available to all Regular Service leavers and veterans, with the level of support depending on time served:
For service leavers and veterans, the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) delivered by Reed in Partnership provides support for up to 2 years after your discharge date. The standard entitlement is also available for up to 2 years before leaving service.

What this means in practice
Before discharge: access to career consultants, workshops, training, events, and job-finding support starts up to 2 years before leaving.
After discharge: you retain access to CTP services, digital tools, vacancies, and career support for 2 years after leaving the Armed Forces.

Exceptions and specialist pathways
Early Service Leavers (less than 4 years' service) can access the CTP Future Horizons programme, which provides support for 2 years after discharge.
Personnel on recovery duties or with significant additional transition challenges may receive support through CTP Assist, which can have more flexible arrangements depending on circumstances.
If you've already been out more than 2 years, you should register with the Forces Employment Charity for support.
