The ICATS Specialist Abrasive Blaster programme at OEG Training provides learners with the knowledge and practical capability to perform abrasive‑blast cleaning to recognised industry standards. This training covers health & safety, abrasive‑blast equipment operation, surface‑preparation standards, environmental controls, inspection requirements, and quality assurance. 

You will learn how to set up and operate blasting equipment, select appropriate abrasives, achieve specified surface‑cleanliness grades, measure surface profile, and follow safe systems of work. Practical elements include blast‑nozzle control, hose management, dust‑suppression awareness, equipment checks, and compliance with environmental and safety regulations. 

The course is designed to enhance blasting competence, reduce industrial hazards, and meet the latest ICATS abrasive‑blasting standards recognised across the UK and international industrial‑coatings sector.

At the end of the full ICATS Specialist Abrasive Blaster programme, you will be able to confidently prepare steel surfaces using abrasive‑blast methods in accordance with industry specifications and ICATS standards. You will be able to identify surface‑preparation requirements, select suitable abrasives, operate blasting equipment safely, and achieve required cleanliness and profile grades. 

You will demonstrate competence in abrasive‑blast equipment operation, surface‑cleanliness assessment, environmental control, inspection awareness, and safe working practices, meeting the latest ICATS industrial‑coatings standards required across construction, marine, offshore, and industrial sectors.
