The ICATS Industrial Coating Applicator programme at OEG Training provides learners with the knowledge and practical capability to carry out surface preparation and coating application to industry standards. This training covers health & safety, abrasive blast‑cleaning principles, mechanical preparation, coating types, application methods, environmental controls, inspection requirements, and quality assurance. 

You will learn how to prepare steel surfaces, interpret technical specifications, mix and apply coatings correctly, measure environmental conditions, and follow safe systems of work. Practical elements include brush and roller application, spray‑application awareness, surface‑profile assessment, coating‑thickness measurement, and safe use of tools and equipment. 

The course is designed to enhance coating‑application competence, reduce industrial hazards, and meet the latest ICATS training and certification requirements recognised across the UK and international industrial‑coatings sector.

At the end of the full ICATS Industrial Coating Applicator programme, you will be able to confidently prepare surfaces and apply protective coatings in accordance with industry specifications and ICATS standards. You will be able to identify surface‑preparation requirements, select appropriate tools and coatings, measure environmental conditions, and ensure coating quality through correct application techniques. 

You will demonstrate competence in surface preparation, coating application, inspection awareness, safe working practices, and environmental control, meeting the latest ICATS industrial‑coatings standards required across construction, marine, offshore, and industrial sectors.
