The GWO Fire Awareness programme at OEG Training provides wind industry personnel with the knowledge and practical capability to prevent fires, manage fire hazards, and respond effectively to fire emergencies within wind turbines. This training covers fire behaviour, fire spread, ignition sources, fire prevention measures, emergency procedures, and safe use of firefighting equipment, ensuring learners are fully prepared for the fire‑related challenges found in modern onshore and offshore wind environments.

You will learn how to identify fire hazards, understand fire development, select and use appropriate extinguishing methods, and follow structured emergency response procedures. Through realistic, scenario‑based exercises, learners develop the confidence and competence to respond effectively—whether evacuating safely, assisting others, or taking initial firefighting action when appropriate.

The course is designed to enhance operational safety, reduce fire‑related risks, and meet the latest Global Wind Organisation (GWO) standards required by employers across the global wind sector.

At the end of the GWO Fire Awareness programme, you will be able to confidently identify fire hazards, understand how fires develop within turbine environments, and take appropriate initial actions in the event of a fire. You will be able to select and use the correct firefighting equipment, support safe evacuation procedures, and follow structured emergency response protocols. 

You will demonstrate the ability to prevent fire ignition, recognise early warning signs, and respond effectively to fire incidents while maintaining personal and team safety. You will also be able to communicate clearly during fire emergencies and contribute to a coordinated response, meeting the latest GWO global safety standards required by the wind industry.
