The GWO Crane & Hoist Inspection and Maintenance programme at OEG Training provides wind industry personnel with the knowledge and practical capability to inspect, maintain, and verify the safe operation of cranes and hoists used in wind turbine environments. This training covers inspection procedures, defect identification, maintenance techniques, equipment documentation, safe isolation, and compliance with manufacturer and GWO requirements.

You will learn how to conduct systematic inspections, identify wear or damage, perform routine maintenance tasks, and ensure cranes and hoists remain safe and operational. Through realistic, scenario‑based exercises, learners develop the confidence and competence to maintain lifting equipment safely and efficiently in both onshore and offshore wind settings.

The course is designed to enhance operational safety, reduce equipment‑related risks, and meet the latest Global Wind Organisation (GWO) standards required by employers across the global wind sector.

At the end of the full GWO Crane & Hoist Inspection and Maintenance programme, you will be able to confidently inspect cranes and hoists, identify defects, and carry out routine maintenance in accordance with GWO and manufacturer guidelines. You will be able to verify equipment condition, document inspection findings, and ensure lifting systems remain safe and compliant during turbine installation and maintenance tasks. 

You will demonstrate the ability to apply structured inspection methods, maintain lifting equipment to a professional standard, and support safe lifting operations by ensuring equipment integrity. You will also be able to communicate clearly during inspection activities and contribute to a safe and compliant lifting environment, meeting the latest GWO global safety standards required by the wind industry.
